One of the things that excites us most at Lapicida is seeing our surfaces in their final setting. Another is seeing our cutting-edge and traditional materials working harmoniously alongside each other.
The private house refurbishment projects illustrated above are by the talented interior design team at Clarity Arts Ltd in North Yorkshire. Celebrating their 25th anniversary, Clarity Arts is more than an interior design consultancy, they are bespoke furniture designers, makers and installers. They understand and appreciate quality of materials and good design.
Clarity Arts chose two completely different, yet complementing, Lapicida surfaces to create an elegant transition between two distinct interior spaces separated by on-trend ‘Crittall’ style timber doors and windows – in the first project (middle and top left).
Modern porcelains create incredibly light thin and strong tiles that are much easier to install than stone and are extremely cost-effective. Clarity Arts designers offset these with Nero Parquet – wonderful black natural limestone tiles.
In the second (top right), a rugged black Nero Antica limestone provides a strong contrast with Lapicida’s French-style hand carved limestone fireplace.
Nero Parquet Limestone
The wine cellar features Nero Parquet limestone set in a classic herringbone pattern. Its distressed finish and dramatic black tones add a distinctive contemporary rustic character to the design. Suitable for use on foors and walls, it measures 250 x 70 x 15mm and is priced at £120/M² +VAT.
Nero Parquet Limestone
Illusion perfectly reproduces the colour, strata, impressions of fossil shells, veins and mineral nuances of limestone in high definition, thickened porcelain. If you didn’t know, you would be convinced that it was natural limestone. Available in white, beige and grey in four different sizes from 600 x 300mm to a large format 1200 x 600mm, these porcelain tiles are 14mm thick and cost from £69/M².
New-Generation Illusion Porcelain
Nero Antica is a natural limestone with a look of aged stone. It is ideal for a busy modern setting that requires a hard wearing surface. Works well with a range of surfaces including Nero Parquet limestone and Illusion White porcelain above. Available in a range of sizes from £79/M² +VAT.
