The Designer said:

“The project was for a replacement terrace that needed to look as though it had always been there. The brief was to ensure it looked original and authentic. It seemed logical to use a reclaimed floor, so I contacted Lapicida as they are the specialists. From the start, they were helpful and understanding of the issues involved with the nuances of a project like this and understood the style I wanted for my client.  I selected 80 m2 Antique English Random Random which is a sandstone. I was even able to visit Lapicida in Yorkshire for my client to see the floor all dry laid in their workshops. By having seen and approved everything in advance, that meant I did not need to be on site all the time to oversee the contractor. It also allowed me the opportunity to see their amazing showroom! The client was pleased that the project came in under budget as, although the reclaimed stones were slightly more expensive, because Lapicida do all the hard work off site, calibrating all the slabs down to around 30mm, the savings on contractor costs more than made up.”

The Contractor said:

“Lapicida supplied all the reclaimed stones to a uniform thickness of around 30mm. That meant our team could lift and lay by hand without needing lots of mechanical equipment. And, without having to undertake lots of excavation to allow for slabs of different thicknesses. My site foreman reported that, on delivery day, everything arrived on pallets on a tail-lift lorry. All the pallets had been specially made so the pump truck could be pushed into the end rather than the side which meant everything could go through a narrow pedestrian gate right to where our team were working. We were very impressed as this all saved us both time and cost.”

The Clients said:

“So pleased with the end result. The team worked really well together. It is not often that a project comes in under budget and is completed quicker than expected without upsetting the neighbours, but this one did. The stone terrace looks as though it has been there for centuries, like it was built when the house was. Definitely exceeded all our expectations. Our friends cannot believe the terrace has only just been installed. We would recommend Lapicida most heartily.”
